BHS Changing Lives through Horses (CLTH)

“Horses have a remarkable role to play in developing character and key life skills in young people, regardless of whether more traditional methods have been successful.” (BHS website)

Changing Lives Through Horses is a BHS initiative which ‘has already helped over 2000 disengaged young people gain key life skills and given them the tools to support their future careers.’

As a BHS centre, STE is proud to offer these sessions for students who would benefit from the kind of educational provision that CLTH promotes. The sessions are designed to build skills that are linked with the National Curriculum but in a setting very different to a classroom at school. STE offer these sessions as care and handling of the horses, rather than as ridden sessions. Six core values are the focus for the sessions: Communication, Confidence, Relationships, Teamwork, Responsibility and Perseverance.
