Sunday 6th April at Felbridge Equestrian Centre
STE’s Arena Eventing Team (Electra B, Chloe B, Rosie C and Lilly S) had an amazing result in both JWS and EC 90 cm classes. The team won both classes as well as some fantastic individual placings:
- Chloe B won the 90 JWS and came second in the 90 EC
- Lilly S came third in the 90 JWS and 4th in the 90EC
The team and individual results mean that the girls qualify for the Eventers Challenge Championships at Hickstead in May and the JWS National Championships at Addington in October.
What is Jumping with Style (JWS) and Eventers Challenge (EC)?
These competitions involve jumping a course consisting of firstly show jumps followed by cross country eventing style jumps designed for an arena. Combining the two in one round requires considerable skill and bravery from both the rider and horse. The JWS class includes a style mark (encouraging the best riding) as well as penalties associated with knockdowns, run outs or refusals and also potential time penalties as in the EC classes too.
NSEA Combined Training Classes
At the same competition at Felbridge, some of our riders were also competing in the Combined Training classes.
- The 80cm team consisting of Electra B, Lilly S and Olivia S came second.
- Rosie C came 3rd individually in the 90 cm class.
What are Combined Training Classes?
The CTC involve performing first a dressage test and then a show jumping round. The performance over the two classes is combined for an overall mark.
All of these results have gained us qualifications for the Combined Training National Championships at Addington in October. What a great day!
