STE Introduction
Welcome to STE – St Teresa’s Equestrian
We follow the same values as St Teresa’s, including the belief that there is no ‘one size fits all’ and that individuals, both human and equine, should be treated as such. This translates into Equestrian endeavours directly – the essence of great riding experiences is in the partnership between horse and rider, and the teamwork and empathy necessary to create great performances stem from a deep understanding of the individual horse and the individual rider. Our horses, our riders and our coaching staff are all unique in their backgrounds, skills and experience, and we take great care to fit the horse to the rider and coach appropriately.
Our facilities are first class and are located in the beautiful grounds of St Teresa’s, Effingham, in the idyllic Surrey Hills. The riding takes place primarily in a spacious 60m x 30m sand-and-fibre outdoor arena, which can contain either size of dressage arena, Jump4Joy show jumps or a JWS/JAS jumping course. Hacking is on site on our wooded or grassland hacking tracks or, for more experienced riders, we can venture out onto miles of Ranmore Common and the extensive Surrey Hills’ tracks and rides.
At STE we welcome pupils from 5 years old and onwards to enjoy the horses and teaching available. As well as being a licensed Riding School (GBC licence number AWRL068), we are a Pony Club Centre, BHS Approved, and ABRS approved. We also offer National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) participation for those who wish to represent St Teresa’s and Cranmore on their own ponies in both individual and team competitions.
We have a lovely collection of horses and ponies to teach with, and top-class instructors and coaches from a variety of backgrounds, such as dressage, show jumping and eventing.
We operate 12 months of the year, 7 days a week: 6 days a week with the STE horses and ponies, and on Sundays those with their own ponies stabled off-site may bring them to the school to use the facilities.
Together we are dedicated to creating outstanding equestrian experiences, through the STE core values:
