Beyond St Teresa’s

Careers advice in the Sixth Form is thorough and practical…
In Year 12

Girls have the opportunity to spend a week at work after their AS levels. Last year we had girls spend their week engaged in a host of occupations from Architecture to Veterinary Nursing, securing placements with a whole range of organisations including; Royal Surrey Hospital, Redhill Hospital Radio, Surrey County Council, Ede Associates (Interior Designer), HSBC and the National Trust.

School also organises that students attend at least one university open day as a group (last year we visited Royal Holloway).

Girls have the chance to start and run their own businesses. Last year we had a strong company called Zync which had designed its own bags and sourced them from China. This was the first time students in the Surrey area have traded internationally and they blazed a trail!

There is an opportunity for a group of students to attend the Women in Leadership conference in London where they can meet women who are leading science-based organisations into the future. This highlights the career opportunities available to the women of the future.

All Y12s attend the UCAS Higher Education convention hosted by Surrey University where representatives from the main universities are there to provide students with information and guidance regarding their university applications.

In Year 13

Surrey University staff give students help with completing personal statement. Girls have mock interviews with a university student recruitment advisor.

Help with UCAS forms is second to none at St Teresa’s. We want you to go to the university or art college which is best for the degree you want and which will suit you and your learning style best so all your teachers here will go the extra mile to write the best reference they can. These carry a lot of importance with university admissions tutors and staff here want them to be the best they can be.
